On November 1, 2003 I went up to Genesee
Mountain, west of Denver, and operated 6-meter QRP/pedestrian mobile.
That's a painter's pole supporting a Cushcraft 3-element beam.
The FT-817 is in the shoulder bag. By the way, this wasn't the most
convenient pedestrian setup I've ever used. I could walk and carry the
pole with the VOX on, but logging became a challenge with no hands free to write.
No openings that day, but I did work several stations within a 50-miles
radius. The temperature was in the upper 30s and a fog bank rolled in
behind me from Denver soon after I took this photo and really cooled
things off.
